Volume 38, Hera Oktadiana

Vision

The webinar series aims to promote a sustainable, inclusive, and responsible tourism model that benefits all stakeholders—hosts (local communities), guests (tourists), businesses, and governments.

Mission

By bridging the gap between theory and practice in tourism, the webinar series incorporates the voices and insights of small-to-medium-sized destinations, offering practical development and operational strategies for their use. By advocating the concept and practice of “A Nice Place to Live is a Nice Place to Visit,” the series will showcase strategies, best practices, and success stories that ensure tourism contributes to community well-being, economic prosperity, cultural enrichment, and visitor satisfaction.

Core Values

The webinar series places high value on community-based tourism, sustainability and resilience, inclusivity and representation, knowledge sharing and collaboration, innovation and adaptability, engagement and dialogue, as well as quality of life and destination appeal.

SCoT Webinar Series

Together, the series is a dynamic platform to air seldom-heard voices from small destinations engaged in complexities of tourism. Its panels are populated by individuals who have expertise in the management of small and medium-size communities and their tourism businesses. Each webinar deals with a thematic subject, by first setting the scene, to then identify relevant issues, problems, and prospects faced by the host community. By bridging the gap between tourism theory and practice, the webinars offer appropriate development and operational strategies. Its 90-minute panel discussion ends by inviting online participants to comment on the subject or ask questions. The series champion sustainable development in small communities, with built-in resilience to benefits all: the host, guest, and stakeholder populations. “A Nice Place to Live is a Nice Place to Visit” will continue to direct the core mission of SCoT webinar series.
