Yukio Yotsumoto is a professor of Asia-Pacific studies at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics (Soka University, Japan), a master’s degree in agricultural extension education (The University of Georgia, USA) and a Ph.D. in sociology (The University of Kentucky, USA). He is interested in rural development and tourism. |

Professor/Tourism & Hospitality Field Leader, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU). After working overseas, he worked as a senior researcher at the Fukuoka Asian Urban Research Center, a policy think tank in Fukuoka City. He has been with APU since 2017 and has been engaging in research and education aimed at the sustainable development of the Oita region by enhancing tourism through industry-academia-government collaboration. |
Manabu Komura is an associate professor of School of International Studies at Utsunomiya University in Japan. He received a Ph.D. in Human Sciences (Osaka University, Japan). He is interested in relations between global values (nature conservation, world natural heritage etc.) and local values in daily life of local societies. His study regions are remote islands and world natural heritage sites (Minami Daito island, Ogasawara islands, Iriomote island, and Shiretoko in Japan. |
Kiichiro Tada is a nationally known leader of rural revitalization. He holds various positions such as: Secretary General of Shunran no Sato Executive Committee, Chairman of Noto Town Green Tourism, Oku Noto Regional Subcommittee Vice Chairman in Ishikawa Green Tourism Study Group, and Chairman of Oku Noto Children’s Agriculture and Fishing Village Exchange Project Acceptance Council. |
Dr. Kazem Vafadari is Director of International Center for Asia Pacific Tourism (iCAPt); and Academic Director of the Kunisaki City Research Center for world agriculture heritage in Oita, Japan. He is a Professor and Vice Dean for International Affairs, College of Sustainability and Tourism at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU). He worked with United Nations University and Kanazawa University in Japan before joining APU in 2011. He is an expert on sustainable tourism, natural resource management and tourism applications of agriculture heritage landscapes. His research background also includes community building, rural revitalization and destination branding. |
