Dr. Liping Cai is Professor and Director of Purdue Tourism and Hospitality Research Center at Purdue University, USA. He is the author of the paper “Cooperative branding for rural communities” and a coeditor of the book series “Bridging Tourism Theory and Practice series” and its 1st and 9th volumes “Tourism Branding: Communities in Action” and “Quality Services and Experiences in Hospitality and Tourism”. |
Dr. Honggen Xiao is Assistant Dean and Professor in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong SAR, China. He is the coeditor of “Encyclopedia of Tourism”, the coauthor of the book “Poverty and Prosperity: Tourism in Rural China”, and the author of the papers “Community empowerment: Pro-poor tourism income distribution” and “Sense of community and well-being in diaspora festivals”. |
Dr. Tsung-Chiung (Emily) Wu is Professor in the Department of Tourism, Recreation, and Leisure Studies at National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan. She is the author of “Agriculture tourism and the transformation of rural countryside” and the coauthor of the papers “A spectrum of indigenous tourism experiences as revealed through means-end chain analysis”, “A strategic planning for agritourism in Taiwan”, and “Farm diversification through agritourism: innovation synergies”. |
Dr. Xinru Liu is Assistant Professor in the School of Economics and Management at Wuyi University, Guangdong, China. She is author of “From poverty alleviation to rural revitalization: Transformation of rural tourism development in China” and “Confucianism, Taoism and tourism”, and the co-author of the book “Poverty and Prosperity: Tourism in Rural China”. |
Dr. William Gartner is Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at University of Minnesota. He is the author of the book “Tourism Development: Principles, Processes, and Policies”, the co-editor of and contributor to the book “Tourism Branding: Communities in Action”, and the author of the papers “Rural tourism development in the USA” and “Brand equity in a tourism destination”. |
Dr. Qian Chen is Assistant Professor at Wuhan Open University’s School of Culture and Tourism. She specializes in rural tourism with extensive investigative experiences in rural villages and remote towns. She and her team have supported more than a dozen rural communities in alleviating poverty by revitalizing agricultural and cultural traditions. She is the author of “Self-fulfilling prophecy in livelihood sustainability: Rural tourism in Pingqian Village, China”. |
Dr. Thomas Bausch is Professor in the Department of Tourism at Munich University of Applied Sciences, Germany. He served as director of the Alpine Research Institute in Bavaria for 25 years and the last five years as director for the Competence Center Tourism and Mobility in South Tyrol of Italy. His research focuses on tourism impact on the quality of life in alpine rural areas. He is the author of strategy papers for the EU Alpine space program. |
