The tourism industry holds significant potential to advance women's rights, equality, and empowerment, yet gender inequalities remain in areas such as leadership, workforce representation, and socio-cultural influence. Aligned with the International Women's Day 2025 theme, a webinar will explore the role of women in tourism in Asia, focusing on how the sector can drive gender equality. It will address trends, challenges, and strategies for empowering women through economic, psychological, socio-cultural, and political means. Featuring experts from the World Travel and Tourism Council, a book editor on gender in tourism, and a woman leader in community-based tourism in the Philippines, the event aims to share best practices, success stories, and actionable strategies to promote women's rights in the industry.

Dr. Eylla Laire M. Gutierrez is a Development Consultant and the Associate Director at the Asian Institute of Management's Dr. Andrew L. Tan Center for Tourism. She also served as a fellow of the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship (SYLFF) Japan. She previously served as the Gender and Sustainable Tourism Consultant of the Philippine Center for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development, Inc. (PCEPSDI), and as the Sustainable Tourism Specialist of the Masungi Georeserve Foundation Inc. She has been engaged in several commissioned research projects in partnership with the University of Auckland, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Department of Tourism, and the Philippine APEC Study Center Network. She has completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Asia Pacific Studies at the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan and also recognized with Outstanding Dissertation Award; MA in Development Policy (under KAS scholarship) and BA International Studies major in European Studies (Magna Cum Laude) at De La Salle University, Philippines. Her research interests include sustainability, community development, gender studies, and tourism management. |

Ms. Liz Ortiguera is a global leader with over 25 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry. She spent 18 years at American Express, where she led the Travel Partner Network across 28 Asia-Pacific countries. Liz made history as the first female and second Asian CEO of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), and later became the first Managing Director of Asia-Pacific and Senior Advisor to the CEO of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). Her expertise spans business strategy, innovation, sustainability, and social impact. A thought leader and mentor, Liz is passionate about driving business growth through ethical, sustainable practices. She is an alumna of Stanford, Columbia, NYU, and The Cooper Union, with numerous accolades, including leadership awards and humanitarian honors. Liz has also been involved in charity initiatives in Asia, including fundraising for educational and development projects in Cambodia and the Philippines. |

Dr. Nellie (Magdalena Petronella) Swart is an associate professor of tourism at the University of South Africa (Unisa) and a certified meeting professional with a DCom in leadership performance and change. As an author, conference organiser, and industry speaker, she chairs Tourism Educators South Africa (TESA) and leads the Executive Development Programme for Women in Tourism at Unisa. In 2022, she was recognized as one of the 100 Most Powerful People in Africa Hospitality by the International Hospitality Institute and serves as the G100 City Chair for Johannesburg. In 2023, she was honoured as one of the top 5 Women in leadership in Africa. Nellie has co-edited three books and has more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. |

Jomelyn De Los Reyes is a dedicated educator and community leader who served as the first president of the Bojo Aloguinsan Ecotourism Association (BAETAS) (from 2009-2012, and then 2020-2023), and later as vice-president from 2012 to 2019. During her leadership, she played a pivotal role in developing and managing the award-winning Bojo River Cruise, which has earned multiple recognitions, including being named one of UN Tourism's Best Tourism Villages in 2021. Under her guidance, Bojo River Cruise garnered the Philippine Tourism Excellence Award, the National Award for Ecotourism, and recognition as the Best Ecotourism Site by the Department of Tourism. Additionally, it was honored with the ASEAN Community-based Ecotourism Award for its sustainable and community-led tourism initiatives. Jomelyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Education. She currently teaches at a local elementary school in Bojo, Aloguinsan, Cebu, while continuing to support BAETAS in its mission to promote sustainable tourism and environmental conservation. |

سید امیر ناصر طباطبایی، رئیس جامعه هتلداران یزد، از چهره‌های برجسته صنعت گردشگری ٠هتلداری در ایران است. ŮŰŚ دانشجŮŰŚ Ů…Ů‚Ř·Řą دکتری گردشگری بŮده Ů Ůعالیت ŘرŮه‌ای Ř®ŮŘŻ را از سال ۱۳۷۳ در هتل پارسیان صŮاییه یزد آغاز کرده است.
